At Children of the New Sun Academy, we are dedicated to providing high-quality child care services to low-income families, with a special focus on supporting single and teen mothers. Our mission is to promote healthy child and family development, enhance parenting education, and prepare children for success in school. We serve children from birth to age 5, a critical time in a child’s development, and aim to equip families with the tools and resources they need to thrive.
Our Vision & Goals:
- Serving the Opa-Locka Community: We are deeply committed to serving the families of Opa-Locka, providing essential support for those who need it most.
- Providing Accessible Child Care & Education: We recognize the challenges faced by low-income families, particularly single and teen mothers, who may struggle to balance work, education, and child care. Our program seeks to reduce the barriers to employment and education by offering reliable, affordable child care. Our services ensure that children are prepared for school and their families have the support they need to succeed.
- Collaboration with Federal and Local Agencies: We work to identify and connect families with relevant federal and local programs that complement and enhance our services. By collaborating with these organizations, we aim to provide a comprehensive support system for both children and families.
- Early Intervention & Special Needs Support: Our partnerships with agencies such as Early Steps and Fiddlers ensure that children who need special intervention receive the necessary care and support. We are dedicated to identifying early developmental needs and providing the resources and services to address them.
- School Readiness Funding: In collaboration with The Early Learning Coalition, we provide access to School Readiness funding, helping children prepare for a successful transition into formal education.
- Nutritious Meals for Healthy Growth: Through our participation in the USDA Food Program, we ensure that all children in our care receive access to a variety of nutritious meals, helping to foster healthy growth and reduce the risk of obesity.
- Promoting Family Engagement: We believe that family involvement is key to a child’s success. Our program encourages parents and caregivers to participate in decisions about their children’s education, ensuring that families are active partners in their child’s development.
